The king salmon run usually begins in late May and continues until the 3rd week of July. The peak is usually from mid- June through the 2 week in July.
When is the best time to catch Steelhead?
The Karluk River contains one of the largest populations of steelhead on Kodiak Island; the peak is usually Sept-mid Oct.
When is the best time to fish for Red (Sockeye) Salmon?
There are two runs of reds. There is an early run in late May through early July and then a second run that begins in mid-September through Mid-August.

What do I need to bring for a fishing trip?
The KBBC maintains and provides all necessary fishing rods, reels, lures, and flies to make your trip a world class fishing experience. KBBC does not provide waders, boots, or fishing licenses.
How do I get my fish home?
The KBBC promotes catch and release practices, however for our clients who wish to retain their legal limit per species of fish they catch our guides will clean package and freezes your fish for transport. KBBC will provide our guest with the appropriate size wax fish boxes to transport their fish home.
